I am in the process of composing a new piece called the Celtic Seasons. Inspired by the seasons and scenes from my hometown in Scotland. I have now completed the violin part for the first movement “Spring,” inspired partly by Vivaldi’s four seasons with a Celtic twist, but also aiming to conjure images of Springtime, from new life and new beginnings with a 6/8 jig section. After the darkness of winter watching flowers bloom; sunshine, rainbows and birds. Planting seeds and watching them grow into new life. Time for renewal and new awakenings. Hope, optimism and embracing new beginnings. These are my images of Springtime.
I am writing and recording the melodies, harmonies and chords as I go along.
This will be an ongoing project. I have begun writing “Summer” the second movement.

Welcome to the official website of celtic/country artist & fiddle player Laura McGhee, from Dundee, Scotland. Laura's music is a hybrid of influences from her Celtic roots to country and Americana.
